Avoiding credit card fees for budget flight bookings

The credit card fees for budget airlines can easily wipe out your savings. Plus, the credit card fee is charged per person per flight so there’s no saving when booking multiple people or flights together. Usually an additional $20 to $30 (+++) per return trip is added during payment by credit card.

Here are some cheaper alternatives where the ~$5 fee is charged per booking, so you save when booking multiple persons or flights together:

  • AirAsia: eNETS online banking for DBS/POSB, UOB, OCBC, Citibank at $4 per booking
  • Tigerair: AXS stations using NETS cards at $5+1 per booking
  • Jetstar: Singapore Post SAM stations using NETS cards
  • Scoot: Singapore Post SAM stations using NETS cards (not stated anywhere, in an effort to get you to pay credit card fees, but you will see it on the ticket payment page)
