Just some links to webcomics, or online comics. Free to read. And featuring mad science. I’ve read and like them. Mostly humourous stuff, nothing too deep or serious [though I read some ‘darker’ webcomics too].
A Miracle Of Science: Already complete, so no waiting to see what happens next. Futuristic police / detective story with a twist. ‘Mad science’ is a contagious memetic disorder spread by certain banned books. Yes, this mental disease causes normal, stable scientists to turn into dangerous megalomaniacs [mwahaha]. And a certain expert detective, Benjamin Prester, is working to stop them. Oh, and his partner Caprice is one of the humans that make up the collective planetary consciousness, Mars.
Girl Genius: Ongoing serial comic. Steam-punk, a type of ‘retro sci-fi’ [in the Jules Verne way]. Mad science seems to be hereditary. Focuses on the titular heroine, Agatha, with lots of ‘Adventure, Romance, Mad Science’. Lots of old-fashioned machines [clanks], Frankenstein-type monsters [constructs], etc. This comic has two parts: GG101 starts from the beginning, GG Advanced Class continues from a point about halfway through the story. Eventually GG101 will finish where Advanced Class starts, and the whole thing will be continuous.
